Three-time Masters champion Phil Mickelson is not at Augusta National this year due to a family health problem.
Mickelson is synonymous with Augusta National, having enjoyed so much success throughout his career at The Masters.
The 55-year-old won The Masters in 2004, 2006 and 2010 and even recorded a runner-up finish in 2023.
However, Mickelson was sadly forced to miss The Masters this year.
Mickelson announced last week that he wouldn’t be at Augusta National due to an ongoing family health matter.
He has been missed at The Masters this year, but while watching on his TV at home, the LIV Golf star noticed a big problem with the golf course at Augusta National.
Phil Mickelson complains about Augusta National on day two of The Masters
Mickelson has always been someone who speaks his mind and he never holds back when sharing his opinions.
That is why he is so fascinating to listen to.
On Friday, the six-time major champion took to his official X account and offered his take on the golf course at Augusta National.
“Watching The Masters,“ Mickelson said.

“Seeing so few players long enough to go for 13 &15 now has taken away so much excitement and intrigue to the back nine. Another example of how longer isn’t always better.“
Back in the day, both the 13th and 15th holes were easily reachable by almost everyone in the field, sometimes with short irons as well!
However, they are unquestionably more difficult to eagle and birdie now.
Has Phil Mickelson missed the point with Augusta National criticism?
That is an interesting opinion from Mickelson.
However, it could be argued that all the excitement is being saved for the weekend.
For example, some players may not go for the 13th and 15th greens in two on a Thursday or Friday but they may take the gamble on exactly the same shot over the weekend.
Augusta National had to be lengthened, and it seems like they’ve got it just right now.
With the golf ball rollback coming into play in 2028, Augusta National will undoubtedly withstand the test of time.
Phil Mickelson may want the 13th and 15th holes at Augusta to be shortened, but they both still make for incredibly exciting viewing as far as I’m concerned.
