PHILEX Mining Corp. will present an improved offer to striking workers at its Padcal mine following a conciliation-mediation conference facilitated by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
In a disclosure on Tuesday, the mining company said it met with representatives of the Philex Padcal Rank-and-File Union, or National Mines and Allied Workers Union (Namawu) Local 101, on Monday to resolve the ongoing labor dispute.
The meeting was held upon the invitation of DOLE through the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Regional Operations.
Following the mediation meeting, Philex said it would prepare an improved offer that includes all relevant and rightful benefits under the union’s collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
The proposed offer will be subjected to a vote to be prepared and administered by the National Conciliation and Mediation Board’s National Capital Region office and Cordillera Administrative Region office, the company said.
Namawu union leaders initiated a strike on Sunday, Oct. 11, over an alleged deadlock in collective bargaining negotiations, although Philex said Monday that operations at its Padcal mine remained unhampered despite the labor dispute.
Details of the company’s improved offer to its union workers and the schedule for the balloting have yet to be disclosed.
Philex shares on Tuesday dropped P0.14 or 1.28 percent, to close at P10.84 each.
