
MANILA, Philippines — Veteran Filipina photographer Luz Amandolina “Mandy” Navasero died on Monday, her family announced.
Navasero was 84 years old.
“Our mom lived a full and meaningful life. She touched many people with her kindness, warmth, wisdom, and love. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we are grateful for the many beautiful memories she leaves behind and for the love she shared with all of us,” her family said in a statement on Tuesday.
The cause of death was not disclosed.
Navasero was the founder, director of photography and chief executive officer of the Mandy Navasero PhotoPRo Studio (MNPS).
“MNPS has now expanded its services to meet various clients’ needs-- digital photography since early ‘90s combined with public relations (PR) consulting, and photo safaris to destinations such as Batanes, Coron, Boracay, Laguna Loop, Luang Prabang, etc. since 1984,” the studio’s profile read.
Born on Valentines’ Day 1942, Navasero obtained a mass communications degree from Philippine Women’s University and took her masters at the Ateneo de Manila University in English Literature.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Navasero was a graduate of the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California in the United States in 1987, having also served as a Philippine Airlines flight attendant and worked at Bank of America for 13 years.
“[I] put up my own business by 1982 as a photography studio cum PR agency. Then Batanes Photo Safari in 2006 up to now. Contributed Street Smart to the Philippine Daily Inquirer for 30 years. Still writes and contributes articles of interest with pictures. Member of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, 3rd termer as director,” her profile read.
The veteran photographer is survived by her four children, Julia, Kate, Amanda, and Kert.
Her remains lie in state at the La Funeraria Paz, Araneta Avenue, Quezon City, starting on Junen 3, 2026 at 1 p.m., and will run until June 6.
Navasero will be cremated on June 7 at 1 p.m.
