Buddhist masters gathered in Gelephu, Bhutan, as volunteers built stupas symbolizing Buddha’s enlightenment in a procession-like row along the Mao Chhu River. Visitors prayed and chanted. The monuments are part of Gelephu Mindfulness City, envisioned by Bhutan’s king to boost the economy while embracing Buddhist values. The city is being developed in phases over several decades.
