Pillion rider dies in Beaufort

BEAUFORT: Two motorcycles collided, resulting in the death of one of the riders at Kg Klias Kecil, KM16, Beaufort-Menumbok road on Wednesday.

Beaufort OCPD Yusoff Yaacob in confirming the accident said it happened at 6pm and pillion riders in both motorcycles were slightly injured.

The deceased, was Mohamad Amir Aminudin, 18, an Iranun. Those injured were Irien Perjinon, 21, a Kadazan; and passengers Mohd Syafiek Sanusi, 18, a Bisaya, and Abd Rahman Idris, 30, a Bajau.

“When the accident occurred, both motorcycles were heading from Beaufort to Menumbok.

“Suddenly one of the motorbikes decided to overtake the vehicle in front of it.

“But at the same time the other motorcycle which was also in front made a turn to go into a junction.

“The second motorbike coming from behind could not brake in time and rammed into the motorbike in front, causing all four to fall on the ground.

“Due to the impact, Amir to die on the spot,” he said.

Investigation is still going on.
