PENAMPANG: A 45-year-old motorcycle pillion rider died two days after being involved in a collision with a four-wheel-drive vehicle along Jalan Putatan-Ramayah, near Kampung Ulu Putatan.
Acting Penampang police chief ASP Arisanti Aziz said the crash occurred at about 12.50am on Thursday when the four-wheel-drive vehicle, driven by a 22-year-old man, is believed to have lost control before colliding with the motorcycle carrying a 28-year-old rider and the victim.
Both motorcyclists were injured and taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment, but the pillion rider succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.
Arisanti added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 as further probes continue, while advising all motorists to exercise caution, observe traffic rules, and prioritise road safety.
