A mischievous pilot spelled out his frustration at having to carry out a test flight by tracing the words “I’m bored” across the sky near Liverpool.
A Ravenair Piper Tomahawk was taken for a two-hour test flight at 11.25am on Saturday after a part was replaced on the plane.
Taking off from Liverpool, the pilot spent 20 minutes tracing out the seven-letter phrase in small, angular loops across the Dee Estuary between England and Wales.
He completed the manoeuvres at an altitude of about 335 metres (1,100ft) and a speed of just under 100 knots, according to data from airline tracking website Flightradar24.
The humorous message later gained attention when it was spotted by users of the site.

Speaking to the BBC, Ravenair operation manager Wayne Barrett, said the pilot, who is in his 20s, would not face repercussions: ““He’s not in trouble but we have had a lot of attention from it.”
Mr Barrett said the flight was necessary to test a replaced part: “I think the part was a cylinder that needed replacing. So when this happens we take the plane up for a test run to make sure everything is OK, which it was”.
Highlighting the complexity of skywriting, Mr Barrett added: “Mind you, it was pretty skilful flying.”
“He was a bit bored but he probably had to concentrate a lot in the end to spell out the words so he was probably anything but.”
