As actor Piolo Pascual celebrates his birthday on Jan. 12, Cinema One is marking the occasion by airing a selection of his films as part of its January programming.
The cable channel will feature three Pascual-led drama films on its Monday Drama block at 9 p.m., beginning on his birthday with “Kahit Isang Saglit.” The lineup spans different stages of Pascual’s film career, with roles that explore romance, personal conflict and social realities.
Cinema One opens the series on Jan. 12 with “Kahit Isang Saglit,” which stars Pascual as Michael, a hardworking architect caught in an emotional conflict with his longtime friend Dexter, played by Leandro Muñoz, and Annie, portrayed by Judy Ann Santos.
The film follows Michael and Dexter, two lifelong friends who both love Annie. When Dexter is left in a coma after an accident, Michael supports Annie and helps run their architectural firm. As Annie struggles with her feelings while remaining hopeful for Dexter’s recovery, the story examines themes of love, loyalty and emotional closeness formed during a period of uncertainty.
On Jan. 19, Cinema One will air “Dekada ’70,” in which Pascual plays Jules, one of five sons in the Dela Cruz family navigating life under Martial Law. The film stars Vilma Santos as Amanda dela Cruz, whose growing political awareness unfolds alongside her husband Julian, portrayed by Christopher de Leon, and their sons Gani, Em, Jason and Bingo, played by Carlos Agassi, Marvin Agustin, Danilo Barrios and John Wayne Sace.
Set during a time of political unrest, the film follows the family as each member confronts oppression, activism, violence and personal loss, reflecting the broader social changes affecting the country.
The Monday drama lineup concludes on Jan. 26 with “Last Night,” which reunites Pascual with Toni Gonzaga. Pascual plays Mark, a troubled businessman who meets Carmina, portrayed by Gonzaga, during a moment when both are contemplating ending their lives.
Their chance encounter leads to an evening of conversation and emotional connection as they confront pain, regret and their reasons for wanting to give up. As the night unfolds, the film centers on the possibility of healing and rediscovering the value of life.
Beyond the Monday drama block, Cinema One will also air romance films under its Blockbuster Sundays programming at 7 p.m. These include “Finally Found Someone,” starring Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz, on Jan. 11; “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, on Jan. 18; and “Love or Money,” starring Angelica Panganiban and Coco Martin, on Jan. 25.
