DETROIT — Daniss Jenkins scored a career-high 30 points, including six in the final 34 seconds, and the Detroit Pistons ended the Los Angeles Lakers’ nine-game winning streak with a 113-110 win on Monday (Tuesday in Manila).
The Pistons overcame 32 points from Luka Doncic and 24 from Austin Reaves to win their fourth straight and seventh in eight games. Jalen Duren added 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Doncic was cleared to play Sunday after the NBA rescinded his 16th technical foul of the season, which triggers a one-game suspension.
LeBron James went scoreless in the first half, but finished with 12 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.
The Lakers trailed by 16 points early in the third quarter, but came back to take a 108-107 lead on two Deandre Ayton free throws with 39.9 seconds left.
Jenkins answered with two free throws at the other end to put Detroit back in front, but Reaves hit a jumper in the lane to make it 110-109 with 29.7 seconds to play.
Jenkins scored again, then made two free throws after Doncic missed. That put Detroit ahead 113-110 with nine seconds left and Doncic missed a contested 3-point shot at the buzzer.
Pacers 128, Magic 126
In Orlando, Pascal Siakam scored 37 points and blocked Paolo Banchero’s attempted layup in the final seconds to help the Indiana Pacers end their franchise-record 16-game losing streak.
Banchero scored 39 points for the Magic, who have lost five straight.
Banchero drove to the basket with a chance to tie the game after Orlando won a jump ball with 6.4 seconds left. But 7-foot-1 Jay Huff and the 6-9 Siakam were under the basket, and Banchero could not get the shot over them.
Jarace Walker had 20 points for the Pacers, and Aaron Nemith added 19. Andrew Nembhard, who hit a 3-pointer with 1:33 remaining for Indiana’s final points, finished with 13 points, 14 assists and seven rebounds.
The Pacers, who entered with a.453 field-goal percentage, third-worst in the NBA, shot 55% overall and made 16 of 35 3-point shots (45.7%) in winning for the first time since Feb. 11.
Desmond Bane had 14 of his 17 points in the second half for the Magic. He added seven assists.
Magic guard Jalen Suggs missed his 24th game of the season, this one with an illness, and guard Anthony Black missed a ninth straight game with an abdominal strain.
Spurs 136, Heat 111
In Miami, Victor Wembanyama finished with 26 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots, and the San Antonio Spurs rolled past the sliding Miami Heat for their sixth consecutive victory.
San Antonio’s victory, coupled with Houston’s 132-124 loss to Chicago, allowed the Spurs to clinch the Southwest Division.
Keldon Johnson and Dylan Harper each scored 21 off the bench for the Spurs, who are an NBA-best 22-2 since the start of February. They led by as many as 30, the biggest margin any visiting team has enjoyed in Miami so far this season.
Stephon Castle scored 19 for the Spurs. San Antonio (54-18) remained three games back of Oklahoma City (57-15) in the race for the NBA’s best overall record and No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. The Thunder beat Philadelphia on Monday for their 12th consecutive win.
Norman Powell scored 21 off the bench to lead the Heat, who remain stuck in the quagmire that is the Eastern Conference’s play-in race and have lost five consecutive games.
Philadelphia (39-33) is seventh and a game up on Miami, while Orlando (38-33 after a loss to Indiana on Monday) is eighth and a half-game ahead of the Heat (38-34). And No. 10 Charlotte (37-34) is now only a half-game behind Miami.
Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro each scored 18 for Miami, which has dropped five straight. The Heat allowed 76 points in the first half and rested their starters in the fourth quarter.
