Pitas is poised to emerge as a key commercial hub on Sabah’s west coast once two new township projects in the district are completed by 2028, said Sabah Housing and Town Development Authority (LPPB) chairman Datuk Masiung Banah.
The projects in Kampung Taka and the new Pitas town are joint developments between the state government and LPPB under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) agenda.
The first project, launched in 2023, is nearing completion with 68 double-storey shoplots and 14 industrial units.
The newly launched Kampung Taka project will include 320 affordable homes and 170 commercial units comprising shops, kiosks, offices, a supermarket, and showrooms.
Construction for the Kampung Taka project is expected to begin early next year, and both developments are anticipated to boost local economic growth.
