SOOK: Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (PKDM) Sook Chief Coordinator, Edward Kandok, announced the official dissolution of the Sook Division KDM as a sign of full support for the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate.
Datuk Ellron Angin will be contesting the Sook seat under GRS in the Nov 29 State Election.
According to Edward, until the date of the announcement, the Sook Division KDM had over 500 members, and the decision to dissolve the division was made as a strategic move to unite the people’s support for the continued development of the area.
“My priority is the unity of the people of Sook. We need to unite for the future and development of this area. My support is to ensure that Ellron is given a strong mandate in this election,” he said during a meeting with GRS candidates in Kampung Susulat, here, Sunday.
Edward also called on friends and supporters who have not yet made a political decision to support Ellron in an effort to strengthen GRS’ chances of victory in Sook.
He stressed that consistent and people-oriented leadership is the foundation for Sook’s progress.
Edward was a former Sook Community Development Leader (PPM) during the Warisan administration from 2018 to 2020.
Also present to express support was Rushdy Raphael, a young man from Sook who previously joined the PBRS party a few days ago after he resigned as the PBS Sook Youth Chief.
Rushdy also denied allegations against Ellron that the GRS candidate was “not working” as made by certain parties.
“We can see for ourselves the various changes that Ellron had implemented. Among the greatest successes for the people of Sook is his effort to upgrade Sook from a sub-district to a full district status, something that brings direct benefits to the development of the administration, economy and the future of the younger generation,” said Rushdy.
This growing support is seen as an important momentum for GRS in the constituency, as well as signifying the willingness of the people of Sook to continue with the leadership that they believe can bring continuous development.
Ellron will face a five-cornered contest against Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup (BN), Shafiq @ Joseph Peter Tinggi (Warisan), Ireneus Pagut @Jreneus Pagut (StarSabah) and V Chong Vin @ Siau Ho (PIS).
A total of 20,349 Sook voters are eligible to vote. In, 2020, Ellron represented PN-Star to take the Sook constituency seat with a majority of 1,232 votes.
