PKR’s secretary-general says the party will take firm legal action against those spreading false bribery claims against its leadership.

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR will take firm action against any party spreading slander or baseless allegations against its leadership.

Party secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said PKR views recent viral posts seriously.

The posts attempted to link the party leadership to allegations of receiving money to settle matters related to certain interests.

This included claims involving elements of a “corporate mafia”.

“Legal action will be considered and taken where appropriate, whether against individuals within or outside the party,” she said in a statement.

Fuziah stressed that such accusations are easily made by those desperate to deflect from their own wrongdoing.

She said any allegations made without solid evidence should not be treated as facts.

Such claims should not be used to tarnish the reputation of individuals or the party, she added.

The party remains committed to upholding the integrity of its leadership.

Fuziah said any allegations must be addressed through proper channels and based on facts, not perception.

She urged all parties to act responsibly in disseminating information.

The public should avoid spreading unverified claims that could mislead and affect political stability.
