KUALA KANGSAR - PKR Youth has begun intensifying its preparations for the Melaka state election by focusing on strengthening its election machinery and coordinating grassroots programmes.

PKR Youth chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said the Melaka PKR Youth leadership had been instructed to prioritise these efforts to ensure election preparations are carried out comprehensively and in a more organised manner.

"Our priority at the moment is to ensure that the election machinery, programmes and overall preparations are in the best possible condition and fully ready.

"As for seat allocation and candidates, those matters will be discussed further by the top leadership of Pakatan Harapan (PH)," he told reporters after attending the Perak-level 2026 Kembara Inspirasi Belia Akar Umbi (KIBAR) programme Town Hall session here yesterday.

The term of the 15th Melaka State Legislative Assembly will expire in December.

In the 2021 Melaka state election, PH won five of the 28 seats - Kota Laksamana, Kesidang, Bandar Hilir, Bukit Katil and Ayer Keroh - while Barisan Nasional secured 21 seats and Perikatan Nasional won two.

On today’s KIBAR programme, Muhammad Kamil said more than 600 participants aged between 15 and 30 took part in the event organised by the Youth and Sports Ministry.

He said the programme also served as a platform for young people to voice their views, suggestions and criticisms, as well as pose questions directly to the leadership.

"The implementation of the KIBAR programme will continue to be expanded over time, with a focus on increasing grassroots youth participation across the country," he said. - BERNAMA
