Christmas becomes more sustainable with Plaza Low Yat
This festive season, Plaza Low Yat, Malaysia’s premier IT lifestyle mall, is celebrating sustainability with its #AGreenerXmas campaign, featuring an innovative 12-foot Interactive Recycled LED Christmas Tree.
Made Sustainable From Scratch
Made from discarded LED panels and carton boxes, this eco-friendly centerpiece symbolizes the power of transformation and the importance of environmental consciousness. The campaign runs through 29 December 2024 and encourages visitors to embrace sustainability in a fun, engaging way.
Visitors can interact with the tree by scanning a QR code, selecting a pixel art design, and making a sustainability pledge. Each pledge, such as reducing plastic use or bringing reusable bags, lights up a recycled panel on the tree, showcasing the collective impact of small actions.
Christmas Flair
Plaza Low Yat also uses previously-owned Christmas decorations and lights, minimizing waste while promoting the idea of reusing and repurposing during the holidays. In addition to the tree, the #AGreenerXmas campaign offers multiple ways for people to get involved. For each engagement shared on Facebook, Plaza Low Yat donates RM1 to Zero Waste Malaysia, supporting ongoing environmental initiatives.
Shoppers can also enter a contest by spending RM20 at the mall for a chance to win exciting prizes, including PlayStation 5 consoles and cash vouchers. Exclusive discounts are available on tech gadgets like webcams and soundbars, alongside festive events like caroling and Santa Claus appearances.
The Spirit Of Togetherness
The tree’s absence of blue LEDs is not seen as a flaw but as a powerful feature. Plaza Low Yat embraces this unique design to remind everyone that the holidays are about warmth and togetherness, symbolized by the festive colors of red and green.
With a focus on community engagement and eco-friendly living, Plaza Low Yat’s campaign shows how small, everyday actions can lead to significant change. It’s a heartwarming reminder that sustainability can be celebrated, even during the holiday season.
