Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will be awarded Turkey’s highest state honour for strengthening bilateral ties during his official visit to Ankara.

ANKARA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be conferred Turkey’s highest state honour during his official visit to the country.

The Order of the Republic is awarded to foreign leaders for strengthening diplomatic relations between Turkey and their nations.

Malaysian Ambassador to Turkey Sazali Mustafa Kamal confirmed the award at a press conference in Ankara.

“This award is the highest form of recognition bestowed on a leader who has brought Malaysia and Turkey closer and strengthened bilateral ties with Turkey,” he said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will present the honour to Anwar.

The Prime Minister’s three-day visit is part of Malaysia’s ongoing efforts to bolster long-standing bilateral relations with Turkey.
