Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim reaffirms the government’s commitment to ensuring all citizens, in urban and rural areas, benefit from development and basic facilities.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that the MADANI Government will continue striving to ensure every citizen enjoys proper development and basic facilities.

He made this pledge in a Facebook post responding to appreciation from residents of Kampung Chatel Damai, Lata Rek in Kuala Krai, Kelantan, for a newly completed bridge.

The new structure replaces a 24-year-old suspension bridge that collapsed on Jan 1 during a wedding celebration, causing more than 50 guests to fall into Sungai Chatel Damai.

Anwar had directed on Jan 2 that an allocation be provided for the bridge’s immediate replacement to ensure public safety and convenience.

Kelantan Implementation Coordination Unit director Jasri Kasim said the cost of the 50-metre-long, three-metre-wide steel bridge was estimated at less than RM400,000.
