
Citing media reports, Dewan Rakyat speaker Datuk Johari Abdul who confirmed this, said the house has allocated three weeks for the process of presenting the Budget including the debates before its approved.
"Yes, the 2023 Budget will be presented Feb 24, next year. This is because previously, only a mini budget was presented for service expenses and salary payments (for civil servants).
"Overall, the budget presentation and debate process including committee matters and policy will take 21 days," he said on Wednesday.
Johari said that the Dewan Rakyat session will start on Feb 13 and will go on for 29 days.
He added that the first meeting of the 15th Parliament session will open with the royal speech by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
On Dec 20, the Dewan Rakyat unanimously approved passed a RM107.7 billion temporary operating budget and the Consolidated Fund (Expenditure on Account) Act 2022.
This was mainly to pay salaries of civil servants and other related operational expenditure to ensure the smooth operations of the government until the new budget is passed.
