Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim directs immediate aid for Darul Ulum Muhammadiah school after a major fire destroyed three blocks, with the government prioritising student safety and learning continuity.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has ordered immediate and decisive action from relevant authorities following a fire at Sekolah Menengah Ugama (A) Darul Ulum Muhammadiah in Bachok, Kelantan.

Anwar issued the directive through a Facebook post, instructing the Ministry of Education, the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department and other related agencies to respond swiftly.

The Prime Minister stated that the government’s priority is to ensure student safety and minimise disruption to learning caused by the incident.

“The MADANI government will expedite the necessary assistance and work with all parties to accelerate recovery efforts, ensuring the school can resume operations as soon as possible,” he posted.

Anwar added that the safety, comfort and welfare of children in their pursuit of knowledge remain the government’s foremost priority.

The fire destroyed three blocks of the school, which was established in 1990, comprising academic facilities, a supervisory office and a boys’ hostel, though no injuries were reported.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the ministry had approved an allocation of RM100,000 for cleaning and basic repairs, including electrical rewiring and restoration of water supply at the school.
