PUTATAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (pic) said the Madani government is focused on long-term work rather than election slogans, noting that Sabah’s long-standing water supply issues are expected to see major improvements next year after two years of federal-supported upgrades.

He told voters at a rally here on Thursday that the state’s multi-phase water project has been progressing since 2022 and is scheduled for completion in 2025, dismissing claims by rivals that they could deliver it sooner.

Anwar said Sabah’s electricity reforms under MA63 also reflected concrete action, adding that the restoration of regulatory authority to the state and the approval of RM1.2 billion for grid upgrades were decisions already implemented.

He stressed that cooperation between Putrajaya and Sabah remains essential to resolving water, power and road challenges, praising Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor for consistently prioritising the needs of Sabahans.

Anwar urged Petagas voters to choose representatives who can work constructively with the federal government, warning that political quarrels only burden ordinary people while leaving entrenched interests untouched.
