KUALA LUMPUR – Perikatan Nasional (PN) is close to finalising seat allocation negotiations with its political allies ahead of the Melaka state election.
PN secretary Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the discussions involved seat allocation among the coalition's component parties as well as negotiations with its political partners.
“One set of negotiations is between us and our political partners, while the other involves discussions among our own component parties on seat allocation and preparations for the election,” he told a press conference at the Parliament Media Centre on Thursday.
However, the Kota Bharu MP said PN was still reviewing several matters before finalising its preparations for the state election, including the coalition's status following action by the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
Takiyuddin said PN's application for judicial review would be heard at the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Oct 22.
He said the application was important in determining whether PN could contest the Melaka state election under its own name.
Takiyuddin said PN had several alternatives if it was unable to use its logo while the matter remained unresolved in court.
“The first alternative would, of course, be the PN logo. If we cannot use that, there are other alternatives.
“That is a strategy that cannot be disclosed. Otherwise, it would no longer be a strategy but a tragedy,” he said.
