Malaysian Swifties will never forget the disappointment when Taylor Swift announced that she won’t be coming to Malaysia for her Eras Tour. Some lucky Swifties are having fun with the American pop singer now in Singapore, and there was even a petition for PMX to bring Taylor Swift in.
In a turn of events, Perikatan Nasional’s Faizal Azumu, the former Menteri Besar of Perak recently questioned the government’s decision not to bring in the American pop star. To him, it’s a huge loss and a missed opportunity, as expressed in his X post @pejaofperak.
“We have A-list artists and content in our grasp via the arrangement with ASM Global (a venue management company).”
Faizal also said that we have to be more aggressive in getting A-list artists into Malaysia because “the huge economic windfall is beyond politics.”
Not long ago, Singapore’s President Lee Hsien Loong stated that the decision to make the republic the sole destination for The Eras Tour is not a friendly measure to other SEA countries.
Faizal is not the only one who is highlighting this matter but founder of MUDA, Syed Saddiq also voiced the issue.
“Right view, wrong party, bro”
Netizens, on the other hand, agreed and were surprised with Faizal’s take on this matter. Most of them didn’t think that his colleagues in the same political party would be on board with him on this.
Another netizen pointed out the possibility of Taylor Swift having to “change her outfit” if she was to perform here.
