MANILA, Philippines — The reported death toll due to the combined onslaught of Tropical Cyclones Maymay, Luis and southwest monsoon or habagat has now climbed to 26 including a police officer, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Tuesday.
In the PNP’s August 11, 2 pm report, 16 of the deaths were from the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) all due to landslide; seven were from Region 4A due to rockfall, drowning and electrocution; two drowned and were electrocuted in Region 1 while one drowned in the Negros Island Region.
It further noted that at least 55 individuals were rescued by responders during the onslaught of the monsoon and recent storms.
The PNP has also deployed 3,187 personnel for search, rescue and retrieval as well as clearing operations all over the country with at least 11,211 more on standby.
It also noted that 42 PNP personnel have been personally affected by the rains and flooding. Thirty-three personnel from the National Capital Region Police Office experienced flooding in their homes while nine houses of police officers in Region 4A were damaged including one totally wrecked.
The number of injured has also climbed to 15 while two remain missing.

The habagat will continue to persist in some parts of Luzon on Tuesday while it is forecast to weaken in the next coming days, according to the state weather bureau on Tuesday.
