Poa says Sara-Marcos dialogue ‘fake news’

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte’s defense spokesman Michael Wesley Poa on Monday denied reports that Duterte and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. met for a dialogue, calling the claim “fake news.”

The denial came after reports circulated that Duterte had sought a private meeting with Marcos amid the strained relationship between the two.

Speaking to reporters at the Senate, Poa said the alleged conversation did not happen.

“Fake news, like that claim that I was hit with a laptop or something like that. It’s like that. Fake news,” Poa said.

Poa was referring to a previous allegation that Duterte had thrown a laptop at him, which both he and the Vice President had denied.

Malacañang earlier said it could not confirm reports that Duterte had requested a private meeting with Marcos, while stressing that the President remained open to dialogue with anyone, including those who disagree with him.
