VICE President Sara Duterte’s defense spokesman Michael Wesley Poa on Monday denied reports that Duterte and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had engaged in a dialogue, calling the claim “fake news.”
The denial came after reports circulated that Duterte had sought a private meeting with Marcos, with whom she has been feuding.
Speaking to reporters at the Senate hall after the impeachment trial went on its lunch recess, Poa said the alleged conversation did not happen.
“Fake news, like that claim that I was hit with a laptop or something like that. It’s like that. Fake news,” he said.
Poa was referring to a previous allegation that Duterte had thrown a laptop at him, which both he and the vice president had denied.
Malacañang earlier said it could not confirm reports that Duterte had requested a private meeting with Marcos, but said the president remained open to dialogue with anyone, including those who disagree with him.
