MANILA, Philippines — Roger Pogoy hit what proved to be the dagger three to lift an import-less TNT to a pulse-pounding 77-75 win against Meralco, taking a 2-1 series lead in their PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup semifinals on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Pogoy was just 2-of-11 prior during the game, but the former Far Eastern U standout showed no fear in knocking down the triple that allowed the Tropang 5G to pull off the king-sized win.
TNT played without an import after Bol Bol went down with a partially torn left Achilles last Friday.
The team had plans to put former University of the Philippines big man Malick Diouf, but that didn’t push through eventually.
Rey Nambatac led TNT with 18 points, Calvin Oftana had 15, Jordan Heading added 12, while Pogoy finished with nine.
Marvin Jones led the Bolts with 22 points and 15 rebounds.
