Borussia Mönchengladbach have decided to retain Eugen Polanski as coach despite a difficult season.
"We have decided to move forward with Eugen into the new season," sporting director Rouven Schröder said.
The decision came after intense discussions within the club. Polanski has a contract until 2028.
"We had a heated debate," Schröder said.
Gladbach finished the past Bundesliga season in 12th place, securing their spot in the top tier only on the third-to-last matchday.
"It certainly wasn't an ideal season," Schröder admitted. He described the analysis as an "open and honest discussion. But the confidence is there that we can do better."
Polanski, who took over from Gerardo Seoane last September, will remain head coach, but there will be changes on the coaching staff.
"We will build a new coaching team around Eugen, bring in fresh perspectives from outside, and add more substance," Schröder said but didn't name any specific individuals.
