Amritsar Rural Police have arrested three more persons in a blind murder case in which a man was found dead in Lakhowal village in Ajnala. The police had already arrested the deceased’s wife, Nimmo, and her paramour, Mangta Singh, in the case.

SSP Kanwalpreet Singh said that the body of an unidentified man was found on June 4 in the fields in Lakhowal village in Ajnala. The deceased was later identified as Sukhwinder Singh alias Sarwan, who had multiple injuries inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon on his face and neck. Initially, the police registered a case against unknown persons, as family members expressed no suspicion against any individual, he said.

A Special Investigation Team was constituted under the supervision of senior police officers. With the assistance of forensic experts, technical surveillance, and human intelligence, investigators successfully traced the culprits within days.

Apart from Nimmo and Mangta, the police have arrested Mangta’s friends Satinder Singh, Jashandeep Singh, and Sarwan Singh.

The SSP claimed that during interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to conspiring in and committing the murder of Sukhwinder. Police said the motive behind the crime emerged during the investigation, and crucial evidence was recovered, including the victim’s mobile phone, the accused’s mobile phone used for communication, a modified bicycle gear fitted with an iron pipe allegedly used in the murder, and the vehicle used in the crime.
