Police arrest man for robbing Vietnamese woman at Cheras temple

A 24-year-old man has been remanded after allegedly robbing a Vietnamese woman of RM8,000 in valuables and cash at a temple in Taman Sri Bahtera.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man suspected of robbing a Vietnamese woman at a temple in Taman Sri Bahtera, Cheras.

Cheras District Police Chief ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud said the 23-year-old unemployed victim was praying when she was approached and robbed by the suspect at 1 pm on Monday.

The 24-year-old suspect was arrested in the same area at 9.15 pm that day after the victim lodged a police report.

The victim suffered losses estimated at RM8,000, involving a mobile phone, an iPhone 17 Pro Max, AirPods earphones and RM150 in cash.

Checks revealed the suspect, who works as a burger stall assistant, has 12 previous records related to criminal and drug cases.

The suspect has been remanded for four days until Jan 23 to assist in the investigation.
