
Kota Kinabalu: Police have dismantled a vehicle rim theft syndicate known as the "Andy Gang" with the arrest of four local men, solving 10 theft cases around the city.
Acting Kota Kinabalu Police Chief Supt Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman said the suspects, aged between 30 and 38, were arrested during raids in Putatan, Penampang and Papar on July 30 and 31.
Police seized 23 stolen vehicle rims, tools believed to have been used in the thefts, a Perodua Myvi used by the suspects and payment receipts linked to the syndicate, with the total value of the seizure estimated at RM20,000.
The syndicate is believed to be responsible for rim thefts in Tanjung Aru, Luyang, Inanam, Karambunai and Manggatal, with all four suspects having previous criminal and drug-related records.
The suspects have been remanded for four days to assist investigations under Section 379A(1) of the Penal Code.
