The district police carried out a flag march in Sirhind Mandi and neighbouring towns today, intensifying security measures to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shubham Aggarwal reviewed the security protocols and met with traders, shopkeepers and local leaders at the Sirhind Mandi police post. During the meeting, residents voiced concerns regarding election security, increasing traffic congestion in market areas and general law and order.
The SSP assured the public that the police would maintain a strict vigil throughout the electoral process. He emphasised that no “anti-social elements” would be permitted to disrupt the peace, warning of stern action against anyone attempting to incite unrest.
To address immediate concerns, the SSP directed officials to resolve traffic bottlenecks and strengthen patrolling in sensitive zones. The subsequent flag march through main markets and vulnerable pockets was intended to instil public confidence and reinforce the Police Department’s readiness.
Concluding the visit, the SSP urged residents to cooperate with the civil administration and report any suspicious activity immediately to ensure a smooth election.
