MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) declared the University of Santo Tomas (UST) safe after no bombs were found on campus.
The university posted the PNP findings on its Facebook page late Friday night, following the evacuation of its students and school personnel after two unsigned letters containing the threats were found in the restrooms of the St. Martin de Porres Building, which houses the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.
“At 8:54 p.m., authorities from the Philippine National Police declared the campus safe for occupancy, following a thorough inspection and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Paneling, which did not find any bombs in our facilities,” the university said.
“The University is grateful to our security team and the PNP for their swift action, and to our stakeholders for their cooperation… The University once again asks those with information regarding this threat to come forward so proper measures can be taken against the perpetrators of this act,” it added.
Students were evacuated from the university on Friday following the bomb threat, which resulted in the university shifting to an Enhanced Virtual Mode of Instruction for students, and offices have remote work arrangements on Saturday.
