POLICE have firmly denied allegations circulating in a viral TikTok video claiming that an officer accepted a bribe from a motorist by the roadside at Persiaran Jalil Utama, Bukit Jalil.
Cheras District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said investigations into the footage found that the incident occurred at about 11.20am on Thursday at the entry and exit junction of Jalan Persiaran Jalil Utama, where four officers were conducting routine crime prevention patrols.
“Checks found that the incident occurred at about 11.20am at the entry and exit junction of Jalan Persiaran Jalil Utama, Bukit Jalil, where four police officers were carrying out crime prevention patrol duties,” he said in a statement on Friday.
According to him, the officers were taking enforcement action against vehicles found to be obstructing traffic flow.
“The action taken by the police officers at the time was to issue summonses against vehicles found to be obstructing traffic.
“Police also advised the vehicle owner to move the vehicle and to register for the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) PDRM application, and recorded the owner’s particulars for documentation purposes,” he said.
Mohd Rosdi confirmed that two summonses were issued, one to the driver concerned and another to a separate vehicle owner, for traffic obstruction offences.
“Two summonses were issued to the driver and to another vehicle owner for obstructing traffic,” he said.
He urged members of the public not to speculate on the matter, warning that unfounded assumptions could erode public confidence in law enforcement.
“Members of the public are advised not to make any speculation regarding the incident as it could create misunderstanding in society towards the duties and responsibilities of police officers on the ground,” he said.
He stressed that the Royal Malaysia Police remains committed to preserving integrity and maintaining public trust in the institution in the interest of national safety and well-being.
