THE Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) has confirmed that a viral video circulating on TikTok, which appears to show its Director-General, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, is fake and likely manipulated using deepfake technology.
In a statement today, MCBA clarified that the TikTok account in question, @Haily Only Official, is not owned by Mohd Shuhaily and has no official recognition from the agency.
“MCBA confirms that the viral video and the social media account on TikTok named @Haily Only Official are fraudulent and are not affiliated with the Director-General of MCBA.
The video is believed to have been manipulated using deepfake technology, misleading the public and creating the false impression that it constitutes an official statement from him,” the agency said.
MCBA also revealed that it has detected several other social media accounts not owned or endorsed by Mohd Shuhaily but using his name, image, and videos for various purposes.
“Moreover, MCBA has identified several other social media accounts that are neither owned nor recognised by the Director-General, yet exploit his name, likeness, and videos to attract publicity or personal gain.
“Accordingly, strict action will be taken against any individual or party found to be using the Director-General’s name, image, or identity on unauthorised social media accounts,” the statement added.
The agency warned that legal measures would be pursued without compromise against anyone using the Director-General’s identity unlawfully.
“The public is advised not to be easily deceived by fabricated content and to always refer to MCBA’ official channels for authentic and accurate information,” MCBA emphasised. - February 27, 2026
