A Singaporean motorcyclist was detained for performing dangerous stunts on the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2).

KUALA BERANG: Police arrested a Singaporean motorcyclist yesterday for allegedly performing dangerous motorcycle stunts at Kilometre 403 of the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2).

Hulu Terengganu district police chief Supt Shaharudin Abdul Wahab said the man, in his 20s, was detained at 6 pm by personnel from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department after he was spotted performing a “Superman” stunt while riding a Yamaha RXZ motorcycle on the highway.

He said police investigations revealed that the suspect was heading to the two-day RXZ Members 8.0 gathering at the Gong Badak Motor Circuit in Kuala Nerus, which began today.

“The suspect was detained for investigation under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous riding that could endanger other road users,” he said in a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Hulu Terengganu district police headquarters late last night.

Shaharudin urged all road users, including participants of the RXZ Members 8.0 programme, to always comply with traffic regulations and practise safe and responsible driving.

He said the police would not compromise with individuals who threaten the safety of other road users.
