Ampang police are searching for a driver who fled after hitting a pedestrian in Taman Muda, with the victim suffering severe injuries in the late evening incident.

AMPANG: Police are actively searching for the driver of a car involved in a hit-and-run incident that left a pedestrian with severe injuries along Jalan Bunga Mawar, Taman Muda.

Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid stated that the incident occurred at 8.19 pm yesterday when the victim was crossing the road near a pedestrian crossing.

Preliminary investigations indicate the victim was crossing from left to right when struck by an unidentified vehicle coming from their right.

The impact threw the victim into the middle of the road before the driver fled the scene without stopping.

The injured pedestrian was subsequently transported by ambulance to Ampang Hospital for further treatment.

Police received a formal report on the hit-and-run at 12.39 am today and have classified the case for investigation under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

ACP Khairul Anuar has urged the driver involved to surrender and lodge a report at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division.

He also called for the driver to cooperate fully with the ongoing police investigation into the matter.

Furthermore, police are appealing to any independent witnesses who saw the incident to come forward and assist.
