
POLICE are tracking down the driver of a vehicle believed to have fled the scene after fatally knocking down a motorcyclist along Jalan Sungai Masin in Batang Kali, Hulu Selangor, on Monday.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent Ibrahim Husin said the crash occurred at about 8.30am and involved a 23-year-old man who worked as a property sales executive.
“Initial investigations found that the incident occurred while the victim was travelling from Genting Highlands towards Batang Kali,” he said when contacted on Tuesday.
“Upon reaching the location, the victim is believed to have been struck in a hit-and-run collision by a vehicle coming from the opposite direction, with the registration number currently unknown,” he added.
Ibrahim said the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the collision.
“The body was later taken to the Forensic Unit of Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital for a post-mortem examination,” he said.
Police are actively searching for the vehicle involved, he added.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
