A TEENAGE motorcyclist tragically lost his life in a three-vehicle collision on Jalan Kota Bharu–Kuala Krai, near Simpang Tiga Dewan Kechil Labok in Machang, Kelantan, last night.
According to Machang District Police Chief, Superintendent Ahmad Shafiki Hussin, the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division received a report from the public at around 8.15 p.m. concerning the crash.
“Preliminary investigations indicate the accident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. when a Perodua Myvi, driven by a woman with her four children from Kuala Krai, attempted to turn into the Dewan Kechil Labok junction on the right side of the road,” he said.
Ahmad Shafiki explained that as the Myvi entered the junction, it was struck on its left side by a Honda motorcycle ridden by the teenage victim travelling from Kota Bharu towards Kuala Krai. The collision caused the Myvi to lose control and crash into a second vehicle, a Honda City carrying a woman and her two children, waiting to turn towards Kota Bharu.
“The motorcyclist sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. The drivers and passengers of both cars were unharmed,” he added.
