Police hunt man over death threats

RANAU: Police are looking for a 35-year-old local who attacked a youth at a grocery store here and issued death threats.

In the May 19 incident, the 19-year-old suffered physical injuries at the store in Kampung Matupang.

Ranau District Police Chief, Supt. Mursalin bin Mahmud said the victim lodged a report.

The victim, a palm oil weigher from Ranau, was buying kitchen items when he bumped into the suspect, who scolded him for no reason.

The suspect then produced golden-coloured brass knuckles.

After issuing a death threat, the suspect put the brass knuckles back in his trouser pocket. He then punched and kicked the victim repeatedly.

A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media platforms.

“The suspect was previously involved in a case under Section 302 of the Penal Code (murder) on October 29, 2014, and the case has been resolved,” he said.
