SEPANG – Police are hunting down an individual believed to have deliberately scattered nails on the Cybersouth flyover here on multiple occasions, posing a danger to road users.
Sepang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said the first report was received on July 15, while the latest complaint, submitted via email, was received on Wednesday.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 268 of the Penal Code for deliberately committing an act that poses danger or harm to the public.
"Police have been monitoring the location and to date, we are still identifying the individual involved in scattering the nails.
"Recently, my personnel from the Dengkil Police Station collected the nails at the location," he said.
Norhizam said this after the 2026 Independence Month Celebration and Jalur Gemilang Flag-Raising Ceremony at the Sepang District Police Headquarters at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Dengkil here on Thursday.
He added that the police would take the necessary action to ensure public safety, particularly in the Sepang area. He also urged anyone with information on the incident to come forward and provide it to police to assist with investigations.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, Norhizam said the Sepang IPD Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division would take action against motorcyclists allegedly disturbing public order in the early hours of the morning in Salak Perdana.
He said police had received information about the group and had taken initial measures, including conducting patrols in the area.
"We will track down this group as there are concerns about possible misuse of vapes (electronic cigarettes) containing prohibited substances.
"We hope parents will play their part in ensuring their children do not wander around in the early hours of the morning to prevent any untoward incidents," he said.
Norhizam added that the motorcyclists could also face action under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987, while their parents could also be investigated.
