Police in Australia charge couple found with 107kg of ketamine

  • A Scottish couple, Jack Farrelly, 30, and Demi McDaid, 23, face at least 15 years in prison in Australia after police seized over 107kg of ketamine.
  • The couple was arrested and charged in Sydney on 29 June following raids on a hotel and a short-term rental unit.
  • Police allege the pair arrived in Australia “for the sole purpose” of distributing and supplying large quantities of prohibited drugs.
  • The drug haul, with an estimated street value of almost £6m, was discovered in a short-term let unit and the boot of a car leased by Mr Farrelly.
  • Locals tipped off the police, becoming suspicious of the tourists, leading to the arrests and the seizure of the narcotics.
