KOTA BELUD: Police have opened an investigation into a viral video and photographs allegedly showing a tour guide being assaulted in Kota Belud on Aug 8.
Acting Kota Belud police chief ASP Ahmad Fathie Md Salleh said a report had been lodged and the case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code.
Police are identifying those involved and recording statements from witnesses to establish what actually happened.
Police have urged the public not to speculate or reshare the viral footage as it could interfere with the investigation.
Authorities said the investigation will be conducted transparently and professionally, with appropriate action taken based on the findings.
