Penang police seek missing KAFA teacher Mohamad Hijazi, 26, and missing teen Nik Nursyazwani, 15. Public urged to report information.
GEORGE TOWN: Police are actively conducting investigations and efforts to track down a male Kelas al-Quran and Fardu Ain (KAFA) teacher who was reported missing after leaving his home at an apartment in Sungai Ara near here last Saturday.
Southwest District Police Chief ACP Anuwal Ab Wahab said that the police are also examining any information being circulated regarding the case.
“Therefore, the public is advised not to make speculations or spread unverified information that could cause anxiety among the community,” he said in a statement last night (August 25).
He added that members of the public with information regarding the whereabouts of Mohamad Hijazi Zamry, 26, are urged to channel it directly to the police at 04-8662222 or any nearby police station.
Mohamad Hijazi stands at 155 centimeters (cm) tall, weighs 54 kilograms (kg), has a tuesian (langsat) complexion and black hair, and was last seen wearing an orange long-sleeved T-shirt and black long pants.
Meanwhile, the victim’s father, Zamri Saidin, 53, said Muhammad Hijazi was reported missing after leaving to perform the Isyak prayers at a surau near his home.
He said that the eldest of seven siblings had earlier performed the Maghrib prayers in congregation with him and his younger sibling before informing them that he wanted to perform the Isyak prayers at the nearby surau by riding a blue Yamaha LC motorcycle.
Zamri said Muhammad Hijazi was scheduled to solemnise his marriage this September 2 after being engaged for about a year, and all wedding preparations had already been made.
In a separate development, South Seberang Perai District Police Chief Supt Jay January Siowou stated that his department is tracking down Nik Nursyazwani Aishah Jefri Arwan Shah, 15, who was reported missing after allegedly leaving her home in Nibong Tebal since yesterday and failing to return until today.
“Members of the public who have information or have encountered the teenager can contact investigating officer Insp Nur Anis Syamimie Nasir at 016-9391927 or any nearby police station to channel information,” he said.
