Putrajaya police are searching for a man suspected of causing a commotion during the 2026 National Day celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya.
PUTRAJAYA: Police urged a man suspected of sparking a disturbance during yesterday’s 2026 National Day celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya to turn himself in at the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters to assist with investigations.
Putrajaya police chief ACP Aidi Sham Mohamed said police have received four reports regarding the incident so far.
He said the department detected a two-minute 18-second video uploaded to Facebook by the account holder ‘Anwar Captain Goose’ that showed a man wearing an orange or brown shirt, believed to have caused provocation.
“He barged through and shoved members of the public waiting for the seating area gates to open, causing a scuffle that made several individuals fall. The incident is believed to have occurred yesterday (Aug 31) at 5 am,” he said in a statement today.
Aidi Sham appealed to the public to come forward with information about the incident to assist the investigation.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
Viral footage on social media showed a man attempting to jump over a perimeter fence to enter the seating area during the 69th National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya yesterday.
