A police team was attacked while conducting a raid on a house of an alleged drug trafficker at Chathewala village in Talwandi Sabo subdivision here this morning. Two police personnel, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a constable, were injured in the incident.

According to information, the police team, led by ASI Jagsir Singh, reached the residence of a suspected drug trafficker Jeetu at around 7.30 am today to carry out a raid. However, three-four persons present in the house allegedly attacked the police personnel.

In the attack, ASI Jagsir Singh and constable Neeraj Kumar sustained injuries.

Both were immediately taken to the Civil Hospital in Talwandi Sabo for treatment.

Due to a head injury, ASI Jagsir Singh was referred to Bathinda.

A police officer said that they were yet to record the statement of the injured, register an FIR.
