The impending Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election seems to be more than just a contest for a vacant seat; it is turning into a battlefield of political prognostication. PAS Youth leader Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden has prophetically foretold the demise of both UMNO and Pakatan Harapan (PH) in this contest.

His diagnosis? A rapid spread of UMNO's "power abuse disease" infecting its "good friend" PH since the coalition took over Putrajaya under Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's leadership.

Afnan's diagnosis of "tatakelola sudah jadi tatakelaut" (good governance has gone down the drain) paints a bleak picture of the current political landscape.

It is a grim prognosis where UMNO and PH might find themselves in a joint obituary, "Live together and die together – this is true unity," as he so wryly puts it.

The call to action for disgruntled UMNO members to vote for Perikatan Nasional (PN) as a remedy against the spreading disease is both cynical and strategic.

It is a subtle invitation to abandon ship and join the supposedly uninfected vessel of PN.

Afnan's analysis of UMNO's downfall in recent elections, attributing it to the misuse of government machinery, is a reminder of the perils of power abuse.

The warning to PH, that they too might suffer a similar fate if they continue down this path, is a cautionary tale wrapped in political rhetoric.

As KKB gears up for the by-election, the stakes are high, and the political landscape is fraught with uncertainty.

Will UMNO and PH truly meet their demise together, as Afnan predicts? Only time will tell, but one thing is certain – the political prognosis for both parties is far from optimistic.
