SANDAKAN: Tanjong Papat assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon (pic) and former Sabah DAP secretary Liau Fui Fui have quit the party along with two branches under their leadership.
They said the decision came after months of observation and reflection on internal developments they believe showed efforts to replace existing leaders in Tanjong Papat without consultation.
Poon, also former Sabah DAP chairman, and Liau expressed concern that Sabah DAP’s direction now favours younger members, sidelining veteran leaders who have long contributed to the party’s growth.
They said they left the party reluctantly but felt compelled to act after values of honesty and mutual respect were no longer upheld.
Both pledged to continue serving the people independently, saying their commitment to public service remains unchanged despite leaving DAP.
