LAHAD DATU: Eight branches of Parti Warisan (Warisan) in Tambisan have quit the party to join Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star).

Welcoming the move, Star Tungku Division Chief, Suling Isib, said the shift reflected the people’s confidence in Star’s struggle, particularly in the Tambisan area.

“With the addition of these branches and members, Tambisan has now become a new stronghold for Star. Their decision to join Star also symbolises unity, renewed spirit and determination for us to further strengthen our struggle for the people’s interest,” he said.

He was speaking at the Branch Handover Ceremony held at Kampung Tambisan Darat Hall on Thursday evening.

The event was attended by some 40 people, including division leaders such as Vice Chief Sonoh Angoh, Secretary Misin Bising, Deputy Wiranita Chief Norhayati Tugnol, Division Committee Member Imam Peter Jasri, and Star Tambisan PDM Chief Nawawi Che Mahmod.

In his speech, Suling also urged Star members and the people of Tambisan to regard the move as a unifying point.

He said such unity was crucial in developing the area and ensuring that the welfare of the community, including fishermen, farmers and youths, continues to be championed.

Among those who left Warisan to join Star was former Tambisan PDM Chief, Nawawi Che Mahmod, along with seven other branch leaders.
