Pope Leo XIV prayed at the tomb of Pope Francis on Monday evening on his way to the Castel Gandolfo, a day after the festivity of the commemoration of the dead.

The Pope laid flowers at the tomb located in St. Mary Major basilica in the Italian capital, and stayed awhile to pray.

Earlier in the day, Pope Leo presided over a mass in St. Peter’s Basilica for Pope Francis, who died this year, and the cardinals and bishops who had recently passed away.
