After the floodwater recedes comes time to deal with property losses.
Some might need to work on replacing new items or carrying out minor renovations. Meanwhile, a man in Ipoh is dealing with “emotional damage” as ALL 6 of his luxury cars were damaged in the aftermath of the flood that wrecked Ipoh recently.
As the members of the city hall arrived in trucks to clean public spaces with high-pressure water guns, an estimated 250 other residents worked hard to clean the perimeter of their houses. 8 search boats were also deployed to rescue other residents in areas that were still flooded, as seen in Sin Chew Daily’s YouTube video.
As for Datuk Amarudin, his luxury cars were unfortunately submerged in floodwater as well. All were damaged including his Mercedes, Porsche, Alphard, Volvo, BMW and Honda.
He said that floods often happen in his area, so he did not bother much when floodwater started to reach his doorstep. However, Datuk Amarudin underestimated the weather this time.
It continued to pour and it didn’t take long for the floodwater to rise, and it was already too late for him to react.
“I could only watch as the floowater submerged my car. It broke my heart.”
What about the total losses?
Datuk Amarudin, however, couldn’t come up with a figure as the damages were more than he expected.
The electrical appliances, sofas, and other home appliances on the 1st floor of his house were also damaged in the flood.
Another resident in the area, Mrs. Liao, said her husband couldn’t retrieve all his important documents that were gone with the flood. Mrs Liao and her husband were out during the flood, and they only received a call from their daughter who informed them of the flood.
When they reached the area, the water level was already too high and no vehicles could pass through.
