PORSCHE Malaysia has launched the new Cayenne Electric, with prices starting from RM 699,000 and rising to just under RM 1 million for the range-topping Turbo Coupe.
The fourth-generation Cayenne is the first fully electric version of Porsche’s flagship SUV and will be sold alongside the existing combustion-engined and plug-in hybrid models in Malaysia. The latter two continue to be locally assembled here.
Six versions are available across SUV and Coupe body styles. The Cayenne Electric costs RM699,000, followed by the Cayenne S Electric at RM759,000 and Cayenne Turbo Electric at RM969,999.
For the Coupe, prices are RM749,000 for the Cayenne Coupe Electric, RM805,000 for the Cayenne S Coupe Electric and RM999,999 for the Cayenne Turbo Coupe Electric. All prices are before options.
All variants use dual electric motors and all-wheel drive. The entry-level Cayenne Electric produces up to 442PS with Launch Control, while the Cayenne S increases this to 666PS.
At the top of the range, the Cayenne Turbo Electric produces 857PS in normal driving and up to 1,156PS and 1,500Nm with Launch Control activated. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, reaches 200km/h in 7.4 seconds and has a top speed of 260km/h.
The Turbo also gets a Push-to-Pass function that provides an additional 176PS for up to 10 seconds.
All Cayenne Electric variants use a new 113kWh battery and an 800-volt electrical architecture. Porsche quotes up to 642km of WLTP range for the Cayenne Electric, 653km for the Cayenne S and 623km for the Turbo.
The more aerodynamic Coupe versions stretch that figure to as much as 669km WLTP, depending on variant.
DC fast charging peaks at 390kW, or up to 400kW under suitable conditions. Porsche says a 10-80% charge can be completed in under 16 minutes, while up to 325km of range can be added to the Cayenne Electric in just 10 minutes.
Regenerative braking can reach up to 600kW, technology Porsche says has roots in its Formula E programme. Around 97% of everyday braking can be handled by the electric motors without using the conventional friction brakes.
Adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management comes standard across the range, while rear-axle steering is also available. Porsche Active Ride is offered for the first time on a Cayenne, designed to significantly reduce body movement without compromising ride comfort.
The electric Cayenne is larger than its combustion-engined sibling, measuring 4,985mm long with a 3,023 mm wheelbase, the latter nearly 130mm longer than before.
That extra length benefits rear passenger space, while the SUV offers between 781 and 1,588 litres of luggage capacity plus a 90-litre front boot. Depending on specification, towing capacity reaches up to 3.5 tonnes.
Inside, the centrepiece is Porsche’s new curved OLED Flow Display, joined by a 14.25-inch OLED digital instrument cluster and an optional 14.9-inch passenger display. An augmented reality head-up display is also available, projecting an effective 87-inch display area ahead of the vehicle.
Despite the increased use of screens, Porsche retains physical controls for frequently used functions such as climate control and audio volume.
For Malaysia, the Cayenne Electric comes with additional standard equipment including four-zone climate control, 14-way electrically adjustable front comfort seats, powered rear side-window sunblinds, Bose surround sound, the Storage Package and Porsche Wireless Charging Preparation.
The base Cayenne Electric also receives the Sport Chrono Package with Electric Sport Sound, Automatic Parking with 2D Surround View and rear-axle steering as standard.
The Cayenne S adds HD Matrix LED headlights, while the Turbo gets a Burmester sound system, Mood Modes and an augmented reality head-up display.
